Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00403Toby (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Hello, my fellow pug lovers! My name is Toby Larone and I was named after the candy bar and it's quite fitting because I am just so incredibly sweet! My owners had to give me up because they worked long hours and didn't feel that they could give me the attention that I need. It was apparent that I was very loved because I am very kissy and I love to be held. I am supposedly a pug and shihtzu mix and I am 12 weeks old. I came into the rescue with a urinary tract infection so I am being treated for that. Other than that, I am a happy bouncy baby boy! One of the cutest features about me is how one ear stays up and one ear is down. I'm ... (Read More)incredibly loving and I love to sleep in your neck and my little tail is always wagging. I'm a typical puppy in that I am in potty training boot camp and I like to chew on things. I will be due for another round of boosters and my prior family said that I had an allergic reaction the first time that I got vaccinations. With the rescue, I had an antihistamine shot 30 minutes prior to my vaccinations and I did great with no side effects. I will need to be neutered when I am older but I can be adopted prior to then. I am doing great with all of my foster pug brothers but I am a puppy so I need to have a playmate that isn't too big since I am a little guy. All in all, I am a happy boy with a skip to my step and I would be a wonderful addition to a family who is ready for lots of kisses and snuggles! A note about my future forever family‰'Û| Pug Puppies: We rarely have surrendered pug puppies. If a puppy does become available, all applications will be reviewed and the puppy will go to the home PROoF feels is best to take on such a handful. Thank you for understanding. All of Pug Rescue of Florida's puppies MUST go to a home with all of the following (no exceptions): No only dog homes. Another small dog playmate that can put up with a puppy is needed, since they are very playful and energetic. No big dogs please, they could easily hurt a puppy by mistake. A fenced in yard and no busy intersections nearby. No children under the age of 5. The forever family must not be gone long hours (not more than 4 at a time) as a puppy does need to be monitored, nurtured and potty trained. Either a history with puppies or a great track record with a current veterinarian. Puppies are young but can be more prone to accidents due to their active nature. If a puppy is adopted before it is old enough to be neutered or spayed, adopter will be required to neuter/spay and provide evidence of neuter/spay to Pug Rescue of Florida. ‰'Û|and for anyone that doesn't know how rescues work, please know that in addition to paying for the puppy's medical expenses, ALL adoption fees helps Pug Rescue of Florida pay for ONE of the 300 old and/or sick pugs we happily rescue every year, year in year out. If you are interested in adopting for me, you can fill out an application at www.pugrescueofflorida.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00401Ruddi (female)

Pug    Age: Adult

Are you ready to meet Rootin-Tootin Ruddi!! We are so happy to introduce this sweet pug girl named Ruddi. Her foster mom has nothing but wonderful things to say about this beauty‰'Û| This amazing little creature came into my life when her owner could no longer give her the care she needed and he made the difficult decision to surrender her to Pug Rescue of Florida. She is such a lovable little character! She is just plain fun to be around. She loves her toys and brings them to you so you can play tug of war with her. That is why we call her Rootin-Tootin Ruddi. She's an easy girl to be around too. She loves to snuggle and be with ... (Read More)you but is good on her own as well. She loves car rides, always leans up against you and puts her head on you in the car‰'Û|so endearing! She likes to drive too but of course we only let her do that when we are sitting still in the parking lot. Like me, she has arthritis and takes medications for that but it doesn't keep her down. She still loves to go for a walk, just can't go as fast or as far as before. She is 110% potty trained even goes to the door. Ruddi's only issues aren't her fault, just the hand she was dealt. She has severe dry eye and she is diabetic. Therefore, for the rest of her life she needs prescription dog food, insulin injections twice a day and prescription eye drops. She takes it all in stride and is very good about everything. Ruddi is looking for a home that understands that diabetes and dry eyes is just something dogs and people live with and that will love her for the wonderful pug girl she is. She will do fine with or without another dog but no alpha females please. I have no doubt that when you meet her, her little personality will tickle you the way it tickles me and you will fall in love with her just as I have. She is approximately 8 years young, weighs 19 lbs. and is living in The Villages while she is anxiously awaiting her new forever home. Her adoption fee is only $175.00. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00397Hannah (female)

Pug    Age: Senior

Hannah came into rescue due to her family moving out of state. Unfortunately she wasn't in great health when she first arrived at Pug Rescue. She had undiagnosed diabetes and we've been working hard over the past couple of months to get her stable. She requires 2 insulin shots a day (she doesn't mind at all). One with each meal, and is on a prescription diabetic food. The great news is that she is feeling much better these days and after her most recent glucose curve she was even given the go ahead to get her not so pearly whites cleaned-up in order to impress her future forever family! In general Hannah is a larger pug but her foster mom ... (Read More)is working to trim her weight a few more pounds (you know Hannah has something to say about that too, but she is cooperating). She has some slight ataxia in her back legs due to a bulging disc (it means she is sometimes a little wobbly when she walks). The doctor says that could get better as she loses weight and gets some pressure off of her spine. No worries, nothing slows her down! She gets along with everyone and is a true 'velcro pug'. She loves to be with her person! Hannah's adoption fee is $100 and would need to go to a home without stairs and with a fenced in yard would be preferable. If you would like to have a chat with this lovely lady fill out the adoption application today! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00392Herbert (male)

Pug    Age: Adult

Hi everyone, I'm Herbert! At least that's what the wonderful people at Pug Rescue of Florida have been calling me. The truth is, I don't really remember what my name was before, so if you decide you want to give me a brand new name once you get to know me I would be perfectly happy with that idea! You see‰'Û|I was found as a stray and it's a good thing that Pug Rescue found me because I wouldn't have lasted long as a sick pug in this Florida heat. My friends at Pug Rescue took me to a very nice vet and got me all checked out. Turns out I tested positive for those pesky heartworms (it happens more than you might think with stray dogs here ... (Read More)in Florida) but my friends at PROOF have a plan to take care of my heartworm treatments. It's not a very complicated treatment so I can go ahead and get adopted and PROoF will work with my forever family to make sure I get the vet care I need until the heartworms are gone. The really good news is that I'm neutered and have had all of my shots so I would love to find my forever family as soon as possible. To help you decide if I might be the perfect match for your family let me tell you a little about my amazing personality: - I'll be the first to admit that I love to have all the attention all the time. My perfect day includes playing, and then going outside, and then playing with my toys, and then having a snack, and then (you guessed it) playing some more. - Do you like naps? I do too! Do you snore? That's great because I snore too! If you like really snorty pugs then I'm the one for you. My foster family can't stop laughing at all the crazy noises I make, but I don't know know what the big deal is, I'm just trying to breathe over here. - I'm an all around great guy to have around and everyone says I'm very well behaved. That's probably because I love everyone and I get along fine with people and dogs. - People often ask about my potty habits too. Good news it I'm potty trained and I even go stand by the door when I need to go outside. Speaking of potty habits‰'Û|sometimes I feel like being an acrobat‰'Û| check out my crazy talent in this video: Herbert the Pug Video If you are looking for a fun-loving pug who will always want to be close by, I'd love to meet you! Rescue Me ID: 17-07-05-00547Peter Parker (male)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Hello my fellow pug lovers! My name is Peter Parker and I am a beautiful brindle pug mix that came into Pug Rescue of Florida after I was found wandering as a stray. I'm so grateful that I was picked up because I was in rough shape with skin issues, fleas, and I was found to be heartworm positive. Thankfully, I am being treated for that and, so far, I am doing incredibly well! My treatment entails medicine, x-rays, bloodwork, and shots that will cost around $2000 when they are completed. Thankfully, Pug Rescue of Florida does not spare a dime for their fosters and I am going to make a wonderful dog for any family that adopts me! To tell ... (Read More)you a little bit about my personality, my foster parents say that I am just a happy-go-lucky dog! Because of my size, they think of me as 2 pugs wrapped up in one and you get that much more love from me because I am a lovebug. I am so incredible obedient, can follow commands, and I love to go for walks. It hasn't been too difficult to keep me calm for my treatment because I am a very laid back boy who prefers cuddles over toys. I make my foster parents laugh because I like to try to 'eat' the air conditioning when we ride in the car and I truly think that I am a lap dog. Because of this, I would do best with a family who is familiar with bigger dogs and has older, calmer children. My name is perfect for me because I really am a superhero for everything that I have gone through. I should be ready to be adopted around July but could go to a family earlier if they are comfortable continuing my treatment. My foster mom joked and said, 'his family just needs to know that he needs 2-3 long cuddle sessions daily and 15 kisses every two hours.' If you are ready to bring a whole lotta love to your life, fill out an application for your personal superhero, Peter Parker. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00077Sunshine and Holly (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed

Hello our fellow pug lovers! Our names are Sunshine and Holly and we are a pair of sisters that were surrendered to the shelter because our owner became very sick and could not care for us any longer. We are both 8 years old, approximately 16lbs, and incredibly loving! We are so grateful that Pug Rescue of Florida picked us up because we both had some unaddressed health issues but we are doing quite well now! Both gals are potty trained, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and crate trained. They both also get along great with other dogs. Holly: Holly is a fawn pug whose tail never stops wagging. She came into the rescue with a ... (Read More)bladder full of bladderstones and had surgery immediately as well as a dental. Holly needs eyedrops two to three times a day for dry eye and the vet recommended that she be on SO food to prevent any more bladderstones. Holly is the epitome of what we all love about pugs-she is happy, loving, and will pin you down to kiss you. Her long tongue makes her even more adorable as well as her head tilts when you talk to her. Sunshine: Sunshine is a beautiful black pug-brussels griffon mix who is quieter and more reserved than Holly. Sunshine loves to cuddle and give you kisses. She loves squeaky toys and she likes to speak to you when she wants more itches or cuddles. Sunshine is currently on medical hold as she has a mass on a lymph node that will be removed by the vet this week. Sunshine has been such a champ for all of her vet appointments as she is incredibly well-behaved. We'll have more information on her after her surgery. All in all, we are an incredible pair of sisters that would bring so much love to any family that ends up with us! If you would like to make a donation towards our vet care which has exceeded $2000 already we could greatly appreciate it! YOU can donate here - http://pugrescueofflorida.org/donate/ (Less)

Our sweet girl is ready for her new home, ideally with a stay a home mom. Isley likes to cuddle with the boys, but this gal just loves, ... (Read More)loves, loves the ladies in her life. She also loves Pugs, kitties, and really gets along well with everyone she meets. She is a little chubby, because french fries & maple bacon doughnuts are delish, so foster mommy is working on getting her some more exercise and keeping her on a healthy diet. Isley is still working on potty training, and she is almost there. Some days no accidents, some days there's a little mistake in the kitchen. Isley is GREAT in the car, and just loves to go on car rides. Plus, she's even fully vetted and crate trained!!! Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better honorary pug. Fill out an application today for Ms. Isley, and get ready for many, many, many grateful smooches!!! Thank you for considering her - she deserves a great home. (Less)

Hi Everyone! My name is Cooper, and I am a Puggle. Puggles happen when a Pug and Beagle meet & fall in love, just like my Mom and Dad. I wasn't able to stay with them, and am now looking for a place in this world to call my own. At only two years old, I need someone to go the distance with me as I live this life to the fullest! Pug Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a question‰'Û|have you ever heard of a Muggin? That's what they call me because I'm an adorable cross between a Min Pin and a Pug! My name is Ollie and I'm hear to tell you that I am a young boy who is full of energy and kisses. Because I'm still a young guy I really like to run and play. I love being outside so if you have a doggie door that would be great. If not, we can just go outside together and play‰'Û|and play‰'Û|and play!! Have you guessed yet that playtime is my favorite time of the day? And, just so you know, it's not playtime until every toy in the box is scattered across the floor. That really is the best way for me ... (Read More)to figure out which toy suits my current mood. The craziest thing happens at my foster mom's house‰'Û|someone keeps picking up my toys and then I have to rearrange them all over again! I also like to get my humans involved in playtime - I often ask them to play ball and tug-of-war. After playtime I love sitting on my foster family's laps and sharing the love. I don't jump up on the furniture and I'm crate trained. My foster mom says I'm smart because I learn new things fast. Because of my turned up nose, curly tail, and long legs I really am a cross between cute and adorable! Now that I have told you almost everything about me, let me share one thing that makes me special. The vet thinks when I was a young puppy I had an infection. Because of the infection I have shakes or temors. It's really OK - they don't bother me (or slow me down) AT ALL! I don't take any medicine and they don't effect my quality of life or how much love I can offer my new family. My life has been kind of busy lately because the nice people at Pug Rescue helped me leave the shelter and then get all checked out by the vet. Now I'm ready for the next chapter of my life - I'm ready to find a special family who will love me and give me all of the attention I deserve. If I sound like the boy for you, please fill out the Pug Rescue adoption application. I guarantee if you meet me you will fall in love with me! Because Ollie is still young the Pug Rescue of Florida puppy policies will apply to his adoption: All of Pug Rescue of Florida's puppies MUST go to a home with all of the following (no exceptions): No only dog homes. Another small dog playmate that can put up with a puppy is needed, since they are very playful and energetic. No big dogs please, they could easily hurt a puppy by mistake. Personality: Average Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] This little darling is Annie Rose. Annie Rose and her foster mom are looking for a true Pug Rescuer to give her the home she needs and deserves. She came to rescue when her human momma died. I'm sure her owner thought she loved Annie but sadly she came to us skin and bones; rotting teeth; anemic from being covered in fleas; numerous mammary gland tumors, infected ears and had obviously been used to produce puppies. Worst of all, she has a mast cell cancer on her front leg that is not in a location where it will be difficult to impossible to remove. She is eating great and has gained 2 pounds since arriving ... (Read More)in Rescue. She is a funny little quirky pug girl, and at this point does not act sick at all. She will go in her crate when you have to be gone (short periods only please) but when you are home, she loves to be in eye shot of her chosen human. She is currently her foster mom's shadow and sleeps on foster mom's pillow at night. Since her foster mom already has too many pugs, Annie Rose needs to find a forever person to claim and shadow. She needs someone to love her and keep her safe for the rest of her days. She is possessive of her toys when it comes to other dogs (especially her pug egg and her lamb lamb), so it would be best for her to be an only dog or a passive dog that doesn't care about toys. She cannot go to a home with another pushy female dog. Annie Rose doesn't really care about the other dogs anyway‰'Û|just her human. The rescue is currently getting advice on what will be the best course of action for Annie Rose. He is the sweetest boy around! He was taken in to have some bladder stones removed as soon as we got him, and has since healed nicely! We learned he had an injury to his back a few years ago, and that contributed to his weaker back area by his hind legs and controlling his bowels and peeing (his foster mom calls him a sprinkler, because when she come home he spins in circles and it sprays everywhere)! He is getting used to a belly band now ! His ... (Read More)foster Mom is working on building him some wheels to help him move around without dragging his legs. (He scoots very fast!). He will give a little growl when you pick him up, but not in a mean way. We think this is how expresses his discomfort, as it has gotten better with the medication. He does not like to be held or sit in a lap because of this, but will lay under your feet and follow you everywhere! He should not be in a home with stairs as he will jump down them. He also has beautiful eyes they look they have eyeliner..Sometimes we call him Batpug, but mostly he is Mighty Max because he is my little super hero!     URGENT - FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP. PLEASE HELP Are you a homebody looking for a new Best Friend? Someone to keep you company and just love you for who you are. Someone that would like to go with you on walks and would enjoy keeping the squirrels out of your yard, well have we got the boy for you! Brownie came into rescue when his owner died. He loves his humans and will be your best buddy all day every day. He is hard to take a selfie with though because he won't stop giving you kisses. Like any good friend should, he will encourage you to get out and get healthier by taking more walks on nice days. He enjoys playing with his ... (Read More)toys on his own but also loves you to throw them for him or play tug of war. He has never had a sick day in his life, is fully vetted and 100% potty trained. You couldn't ask for a better dog buddy. Because only one of his parents was a pug he has a longer nose which is a good thing, no breathing issues! He sees great! Hears great! Plays like a youngster, skin is great! Did we mention he IS GREAT!!!! We think he is a Jack Russell Terrier/Pug mix but whatever he is, he is a good boy and going to make one lucky family a great companion. He is 9 going on 5 and will have no trouble keeping up with you or laying on the couch watching TV if you prefer. He weighs a healthy 29 pounds. Brownie is OK with some dogs but would do best as an only dog. He grew up an only dog and will growl or nip at some dogs because he doesn't know what to do with them. He is toy aggressive to other dogs and food aggressive. He seems to like all humans that he gets to know but because of his fear of strangers and his food aggression, we are looking for a quiet home for him with no small children and no cats (cats look like squirrels to him, not a good thing for the cat). He loves walks but he is scared of car rides, he just sits and shakes. It takes him a while to feel comfortable in new situations so we think someone who has a work-from-home type job would be great because when he goes to a new place Brownie has separation anxiety. He eventually adjusts but as we have seen it take time, patience, love, and understanding to help him settle in. He has spent almost 2 years with us here at Pug Rescue so that is why we have so much information to share about him and why we can be so specific about the type of home environment that would be best for him. His foster family loves him but they are retiring and leaving to travel and, well as we've said, Brownie does NOT like the car. So we REALLY want to help this little guy finally find his FOREVER HOME ASAP! He has been through changes, learned to adjust, and we hope he can make one more change to a great forever home that will love him and give him all of the love and attention he deserves, because we know he will give all of that right back to his new family. He is currently being fostered in the Villages (and Brandon) and his adoption fee is ONLY $100. If you are Brownie's love match, please contact us ASAP to learn more about this wonderful guy. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-06-00111Abby (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Blind

Abby is a beautiful 6 year old 28 pound puggle girl who is very sweet and loving. Her favorite things to do are: going for walks and car rides, trying to catch lizards she hears in the yard, jumping on the couch for a snooze and most of all cuddling with her humans. In fact if it were up to Abby she would be cuddled up either next to you or by your feet 24/7. Abby is 100% house trained and even scratches at the door when she needs to go out. She enjoys laying in her foster mom's enclosed yard listening to the world go by when the weather is right. She will do best as an only dog in a quiet home with a fenced yard or a walled courtyard ... (Read More)(like her foster mom has). Other dogs startle her sometimes and she is food aggressive to other dogs (not humans), so being an only dog with a loving human would be ideal for Abby. She is not a big barker or digger and no separation anxiety here. She happily sleeps in her dog bed at night and when you are gone. Oh yes, almost forgot, Abby went blind about a year ago. But she doesn't feel sad about it. She has a great live and has a lot of love to give. She just needs a loving human that feels the same way that she does about it. She gets around amazingly well, with her wonderful hearing and great sense of smell. She even navigates the few steps in her foster home. Please open your heart and your home to this fabulous puggle girl. You will be happy you did. She is fostered in The Villages and her adoption fee is only $225.00 (Less)
